本书以汉语普通话为例考察事件类型和事件结构如何影响空间表达及对含有空间短语的句子的解读。全书共分六章。第一章介绍空间表达的句法语义基础，和事件语义学的一些基本概念，包括论元结构和事件结构。第二章通过中英文对比探讨空间短语构成的事件修饰语的歧义现象。第三、四章分别讨论汉语普通话表达空间关系最重要的几种句式-含有“在”引领的空间介词短语的句子、处所主语句和处所宾语句。作者将Davidson (1967)和Parsons (1990)等学者建构的事件语义学视角带入到这些句式的考察中，发现一些普遍的语义原则可以统一地描写及解释“在”引领的空间介词短语的分布及解读和处所主语句的语义特征。第五章通过空间参照系统、参照策略的选择以及目的物-参照物非对称性两个现象来看空间语言与知觉及一般认知系统之间的关系。第六章讨论了用事件语义学来分析汉语空间表达主要句式给我们带来的新的认识。 Preface序言
