该书以内陆欧亚草原东段的西伯利亚与黑龙江(阿穆尔河)流域的古代岩画遗存为基本研究内容，以岩画的地理分布作为分类或分目的基本依据，以图版为主要著录内容，通过大量的岩画照片、拓片、复原图等展示内陆欧亚草原东段古代岩画遗存形成的历史背景、分布走向、基本题材、文化内涵以及反映在岩画上的内陆欧亚草原地带早期文化互动与族群往来等丰富内容。第一章为西伯利亚与黑龙江流域岩画概况。第二至四章以分布于西伯利亚、俄罗斯远东、中国东北的岩画遗址为研究对象，分述各地岩画的岩画内容、岩画与宗教和文化的联系、岩画的断代时间等。
